Aviation Minister Opens Bola Tinubu Airport In Minna, Declares It Alternative To Abuja Airport

The announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during the inaugural flight ceremony of Overland Airways from the Minna airport.
The Nigerian government has officially designated the Bola Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger State, as the alternative airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during the inaugural flight ceremony of Overland Airways from the Minna airport.
Speaking at the event, Keyamo said the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport possesses the infrastructure and strategic location required to serve as a backup to the nation’s capital airport, particularly in times of emergencies or heavy traffic.
“The runway is an international runway; a 747 and a triple 7 can use this runway. Why over the years this has been underutilised is still a puzzle,” Keyamo said.
