Confusion as police restore Obasa’s security details, withdraw Meranda’s

There is confusion and anxiety as Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa who was impeached as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly in January, may be poised for a return to the position.
Reports indicate that Obasa’s security details have been reinstated, while those of the current Speaker, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, have been withdrawn.
Meranda, who served as Obasa’s deputy before his impeachment, was unanimously elected as the new Speaker following his removal, making her the first female to hold the position in the state’s history.
Although Meranda has not officially resigned, sources suggest that her future as Speaker was effectively decided over the weekend by influential members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who stepped in to address the ongoing crisis within the House of Assembly
