Nigerian government declares Friday, Monday public holidays

The federal government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, as public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians nationwide on the Easter celebration and urged them to reflect on the message of love, sacrifice, and hope embodied in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He called on Nigerians to use the Easter period to pray for peace, unity, and the continued stability of the country.
Reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister emphasized the administration’s focus on national development and prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged acts of kindness and generosity among citizens, and wished Christians a joyful Easter, extending warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
