Tinubu returns to Abuja after attending inauguration of Pope Leo XIV

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, after a visit to Rome, Italy, where he attended the official inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.
The president’s aircraft touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
On his arrival, President Tinubu was received at the presidential wing of the airport by key government officials, including George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Tinubu had departed Abuja on Saturday, following an official invitation to witness the inauguration ceremony of the newly installed pope.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the president emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive governance:
“We must harness our diversity for the country’s stability and rapid development,” he said.
He further urged leaders across all levels of government to prioritize the welfare of citizens:
“Leaders must work for the betterment of the citizens,” Tinubu added.
Reflecting on the occasion, Tinubu described it as a significant moment in history:
“It is historic to be the president of Nigeria when a new pope was inaugurated in Rome,” he stated.
